Homestay

We offer visitors an opportunity to really experience township life by staying in the heart of Kayamandi at Once Upon a Stove homestay.

Whether they are a volunteer helping at one of the township's many projects or merely on holiday the visitor will be welcomed as one of the family. They are provided with a bed and three meals a day, which will be taken with the family. You will be comfortable and well taken care of but please keep in mind we are not able to provide the exact same service as a Sheraton, Hilton, or Liverpool hotels. Instead, you will be like family and treated as such and you can always inform us how we can make your stay even more enjoyable. When they first arrive, they will be taken on a tour of the township to introduce them to it and to provide them with their bearings for future trips into the township, or into Stellenbosch - a short walk from the township or R5 taxi ride.

We are happy to help arrange visits to other places such as Table Mountain in Cape Town or even diving with sharks in Hermanus while they are at the homestay.

Whether it is for a few days or a few months 'Mama Lily', their substitute mother for the duration of their stay, will look after all their needs to ensure they get the most out of their stay.
